I'm a writer, a reader, a perpetual traveler, a hopeful journalist. And a senior at UNC Chapel Hill.

I've been studing journalism for a few years now, taking time to try my hand in a few different roles: business writer, political writer, columnist, concert reviewer. It's been a little bit messy, a little bit of everything — but then, that's why I came into this field in the first place.

I spent my summer at the Charlotte Observer, writing about business and prolonging the slow death of newspapers one more publication at a time. Here, I'm also completing my tour of newsrooms in North Carolina. (I was at The (Raleigh) News & Observer and The Daily Tar Heel before this.)

But for senior year I'm taking on an exciting new project: working as managing editor of a longform digital magazine called Synapse. It's something entirely different, and I can't wait to see where it takes us.

After this, who knows. I'd love to keep traveling, to keep writing, to be a burgeoning young journalist forever. So I plan to do exactly that — to travel and write and explore and experiment while I still can, while it's the only thing on my mind.
