Interpreter in Maryville, Tennessee
Professional, nationally-certified sign language interpreter with eight years of experience within the field. Experience includes interpreting in a multitude of settings ranging from one-on-one job training to platform conference interpreting. Some of my favorite work includes medical, job training, voc. rehab., and higher education.
Prior to obtaining my Bachelors degree from Maryville College, I attended Kutztown University as a Special Education/Elementary Education double-major. After two years of study, I decided I wanted to pursue mastery of a foreign language, and opted to become an interpreter.
Despite the change of majors, I have kept up with the education world, particularly the evolving world of special education. I am an ally and advocate for individuals with disabilities and believe everyone can learn, given the proper tools.
I also enjoy volunteer work. I have a strong interest in partnering with animal rescue groups. I am currently the Director of Inventory/Storage for Adopt a Golden Knoxville, as well as participate in events and transportation of foster dogs. My flat-coated retriever, Ryder, participated in the Human Animal Bond in Tennessee (HABIT) program in conjunction with East Tennessee Children's Hospital. As a therapy dog team, we volunteered weekly visiting the children before and after surgeries, making sure there were smiles all around.
