Dr. Mehran Moussavian, a board-certified cardiologist, provides quality healthcare to individuals with cardiac and peripheral conditions. Beginning his private practice in 2005, he currently diagnoses and treats patients at the Cardiovascular Institute of San Diego, Inc. and at hospitals throughout San Diego County. He serves as an interventional cardiologist at Sharp Chula Vista Medical Center and Scripps Chula Vista Medical Center.
Before launching his private practice, the Cardiovascular Institute of San Diego, Dr. Mehran Moussavian completed much of his undergraduate, medical, and post-graduate training on the East Coast. After earning a bachelor's degree in biology from the University of Connecticut, he continued on to the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, where obtained his D.O. degree in 1994.
Over the following three years, Dr. Mehran Moussavian pursued post-graduate training through the Yale Primary Care Program. Starting out as an intern, he continued his work as a junior and senior resident. From 1997 to 1998, the final years of his training, he served as Chief Medicine Resident.
Moving to California after completing his residency, Dr. Moussavian worked as a cardiovascular fellow for three years at the Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation. He remained with Scripps for another two years, participating in an interventional cardiology fellowship until 2003. He then worked as an interventional peripheral fellow at El Camino Hospital for three months. Dr. Moussavian served as a staff physician at Community Memorial Hospital before establishing his private practice the following year.
Dr. Mehran Moussavian is a Diplomate of the American Boards of Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology and is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology (ACC). As a member of the ACC, he regularly makes donations to the organization.
