Hi my name is Maria. I live just outside Copenhagen (Denmark/Europe.) I have a husband and 3 children. My oldest son is 6 years old and then there are the twins Anna and August who are now 1 1/2.
August was born with GA-1 which is short for “glutaric acidemia, type 1”. People with GA-1 have problems breaking down certain amino acids found in protein.
He is on a very strict diet where we have to control everything he eats to make sure he gets the right amount of protein - not more not less.
August still needs a certain amount of protein for normal growth and development. Now that he is 1 1/2 years old he can have 11.3 grams (0.40 ounces) of protein a day.
I put a lot of time and effort in cooking healthy, delicious food for him, made out of real food and not low protein substitute products.
This blog will mainly be a collection of low protein recipes.
