Mei Turnbull
Health Practitioner, Performance Coach, and Entertainer in Ballarat VIC, Australia
Why, hello there! I’m Mei, a Complementary Health Practitioner living in Ballarat VIC, Australia. Though I wasn't always one.
My first love was the stage: singing, dancing, and then acting. Emotive Story-telling, that's what I was all about. I trained in each during and after school hours, and went on to major in Contemporary Performance at the Australian Institute of Music.
When I moved to Ballarat 12 years ago, I attended Federation University (then Uni of Ballarat) and considered life as an academic. I loved learning about people, society, the dynamic of power-gender-sexuality and it's variances across cultures.
After graduating, I lived overseas for a time before returning to Ballarat where I was a Sponsored Athlete at a local pole/aerial studio. During this time, I worked at the studio running a freestyle movement class that helped students connect with and gain the confidence to express their sex/sensuality. With my strong background in performance, I successfully coached amateur competitors to place-winning results in their debut seasons.
It was also during this time, however, that I sustained an injury (what I thought was just a "niggle", so I continued to train) that would lead me to learn some really dysfunctional movement patterns, and my overall health started to decline. From this, I learned so much about rehab, prehab, the importance of maintenance, and I was inspired to pursue Remedial Massage so that I can continue to help others reach their peak.
I train in healing modalities that I know work, because they are what helped me get back on track. Reiki helped me let go of a lot of emotional baggage I was carrying from leaving the stage again, and feel grounded when I couldn't be as "physical" as I was used to.
I have worked in the industry for four years now, and have a proven history of helping footy and netball players return-to-play following a "corky" or a tear, as well as helping desk-workers address their posture, reduce headache frequency, and promote a deeper sleep.
Now, I run my own home-based business, Fox Therapies. If you want to prevent a "niggle" from becoming an injury, or just want to take some time out for you, you can schedule an appointment with a click on the button above, or get in touch via any of the socials below.
