My name is Mekdes Hollinger and photography has always been a passion of mine. I love capturing the tiny moments that create memories for a lifetime. Looking at photographs evoke emotions for the people involved in creating the image and also for those who were not involved in the process. For example, I took the picture on the left in the woods in my backyard. The model Diane, my neighbor and childhood friend, encourages and supports my love for photography. She allows me to use her as a model in my photographs and never questions my artistic ability. She has been there to witness pictures that should have never wasted space on an SD card and pictures that "deserve to be in photography books." Even if she is the only one that believes I am a good photographer, I would never trade the moments we spent shooting. We explored acres of woods in our backyard and created memories trying to get the perfect image. When people look at this photograph they are only able to enjoy what is explicitly in front of them. When Diane and I look at this picture we remember how long we walked to get to the location, how I walked through a spider web and she couldn't stop laughing, and how she couldn't stop smiling when I told her to look serious. Despite not knowing the history of the photograph anybody is able to enjoy the picture. I love photography because photographs arouses emotions and allows people to sympathize and relate with those around them. Photography has the ability to bring people together.
