You've heard the spiel: "ambitious, recent grad seeks entry-level job at a mid-sized firm blah blah blah..."
Let me assure you, I'm different.
While I am a journalist by training, I am first and foremost a student of the interplay between culture and language. Writing is all that's ever made sense to me. Words aren't just a medium to communicate -- they are my everything. I love words so much that I graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with two undergraduate degrees (a Bachelor of Journalism in News-Editorial and a Bachelor of Arts in English) just so I could take in that much more language.
My interests are as diverse as my résumé. I've been a brand ambassador/event planner for Victoria's Secret PINK, a news intern at YNN Austin, a fashion columnist and film reviewer at the Daily Nebraskan, a contributing columnist for the Lincoln Journal Star, an online news/editorial assistant for University Communications and a communications/publicity intern for the American Copy Editors Society (I'm a member, aka grammar geek, too). In my role as a corporate communicator for Olsson Associates, I applied my writing and editing skills in many facets, ranging from drafting press releases to proofreading blog posts. I was also a web producer for KGUN 9 On Your Side in Tucson, Ariz., where I produced online content and ran social media sites during the morning news shift.
I am currently the communications associate at the UNL School of Natural Resources.
My life goal is to win an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay. Fashion, film, global politics and red wine are my favorite table topics.
