Melanie has over twelve years of experience as a journalist working for one of Canada’s top TV networks, Global Television. She started out as an intern for the number one most watched national news broadcast in the country, Global Nationaland quickly became one of the youngest female assignment editors for a national news program in the country. She has worked in multiple capacities for Global National, including field producer for major news stories such as Canadian federal elections, the US presidential election, and Canada’s military involvement in Afghanistan.

In Afghanistan she was the first Canadian journalist to produce a live blog from a war zone allowing viewers to interact with Canadian combat soldiers in real time.

Melanie has won several prestigious journalism awards including, an Asia Pacific Foundation media fellowship, a Jack Webster Foundation fellowship and An International Women’s Media Foundation, Howard G. Buffett grant. In 2016 she was named an Arthur F. Burns Journalism Fellow, one of only two Canadians amongst other journalists from CNBC, and The Wall Street Journal. As a fellow she had the unique opportunity to report for Deutsche Welle Television.

Melanie has always been a student at heart and completed an MBA at the University of Warwick in 2015. She also holds an MA in European Studies and an MA in Journalism and was a finalist for the Martin Wise Goodman Canadian Harvard Nieman Fellowship in 2015. In addition to learning, Melanie has a passion for travel and film. Having also worked as a producer on several feature film projects including, Repaters and CBGB, currently in worldwide distribution, she co-created Get Lost. Get Lostis an innovative travel show that's already garnered multiple international awards.
