Drawing on over two decades in clinical practice, Melanie Illich, MD, provides outpatient psychiatric services in Waco, Texas. At her private, solo office, she performs psychotherapy and manages pharmaceutical interventions for patients from a region with a shortage of psychiatric practitioners. Melanie Illich, MD, delivers care for a variety of mental health challenges and has extensive experience in such areas as obsessive compulsive disorder, trauma, mood disorders, and women’s issues.

After receiving an MD from the Texas A&M College of Medicine, Melanie Illich, MD, completed a psychiatry residency at Baylor College of Medicine. She has attained designation as a fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and maintains membership in such organizations as the Texas Society of Psychiatric Physicians and the McLennan County Medical Society. Formerly an assistant professor of psychiatry at Baylor College of Medicine, she has also lectured for Texas Women’s University, the Waco Women’s Health Fair, and the Wyeth Ayerst Speaker’s Bureau.

Previously, Dr. Illich has worked as a psychiatrist for the Baylor University Counseling Center and as a staff psychiatrist for the Veterans Administration Hospital in Houston, Texas. While a staff psychiatrist for Providence Health Alliance, she served two years as chief of psychiatry at Providence Hospital.

Within the local community, Melanie Illich, MD, has contributed to the Midway Independent School District for over ten years, for which she earned Diamond Partner status. She enjoys spending her free time engaging in outdoor activities and watching Houston Astros games.
