Melanie Winter
Student, Public Speaker, and Program Facilitator in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada
I started public speaking about mental health and suicide in particular 7 years after my dad died. I wanted more from my life than to just be a sad statistic and I knew I wanted to help change others ways of thinking about mental health.
After doing other things and trying to navigate life without my dad I went back to school to study Human Resources with a goal to ensure mental health well-being in the workplace.
Right now I work for a suicide education & prevention agency that I connected with by volunteering first. Part of my job is public speaking and presenting to middle& highschool kids about Suicide.
I also promote student well-being at my College and strive to engage students and encourage faculty to incorporate mental health awareness into their academics and classroom.
I hope to educate and empower people by delivering raw and personal posts about Suicide. So join me on my journey to make a connection and start a conversation that matters.
