Melisa Khemthong

Hello! I’m Melisa, a bassist living in La Mirada, California. From a young age I had always known that I would be a musician throughout my adulthood. Starting at the age of ten on the flute, there was never a question of whether I would give it up for a different activity. I have yet to find anything that comes as naturally to me as being a musician. Through the years I have become a multifaceted musician and have an expansive range of experience in many categories of instruments including brass, woodwinds, percussion and strings. I have spent many years doing ensemble work with marching bands, wind ensembles, orchestras and even percussion ensembles. In my latter years I have become acquainted with working as a solo musician and have come to admire the courage it takes to take on such a venture.

I've been an upright bassist for the last ten years and have recently began my journey on the electric bass. I am currently a Commercial Music student at Cerritos College with the goal of becoming a freelance musician. I find it interesting to learn how technology is affecting modern music and want to discover how to use that technology to create it. I am excited to be on the road to combining my own musical zest with technology to create new musical flavors.
