Melissa Santiago
As a diverse person, I seek to explain myself in two different aspects: the superficial and the inner.
Currently, I am a junior in the Health Sciences at DePaul University. It is from this network that I obtained my position within the career center guiding students through the appropriate measures of seeking a job and how to graduate in a timely manner. Coming from a college that was disorganized and disinterested in the best interest of the students, I took this experience as motivation to do my best to help students the way I would have wanted. Along with this position, I am also interning with the Accelerated Rehabilitation Center in the Lakeview location.
As a person, I was raised Catholic and attended Catholic schools but hesitantly made the transition into the philosophy of Buddhism. I have opened my mind to trying new things and appreciating life, which has only improved my well-being. I was inspired to join a mixed martial arts class, a belly-dancing club, several sports leagues, and more recently claimed the title of a 'foodie.' With my appreciation of all life, I strive to heal and educate to the best of my knowledge out of passion for what I love.
