Hi! I am Melissa Cardin, and I work as a Community Job Specialist for the NHEP Workplace Success Career Center. I have also been a program coordinator in the same office. What that translates to is that I teach work readiness and job skills to adults - the résumés and cover letters, as well as more the transferable skills that can be taken from job to job. My current position also allows me to work closely with businesses and non profits in our community to place our program participants into a short internship, which allows them to gain valuable work skills. I also write a lot of reports, and as such, have become really, really good with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. I'm pretty well versed in the computer world for work, and pick up new software quickly.

To complement the Work Skills Training, I also coordinated Service Bureau assignments, which gives my participants an opportunity to perform very short term ( a day or so) work assignments both on- and off-site, and includes computer projects, clerical support, data entry and assembly projects, and includes customer service skills, written and verbal communication skills, workplace survival skills, and basic-to-advanced Microsoft applications and keyboarding skills. The hope is that the two of these combined will enhance employability.

On top of my job, I am a member of the National Resume Writers Association. I love writing resumes resumes! I am studying to become a nationally certified resume writer. I run my own resume business called Write Right Resume Services. The link is below.

I volunteered to write for the jobsinnh.com newsletter every few months, which was a lot of fun. I have also discovered the world of Massive Online Open Courses (MOOCs), and have been looking into getting a Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management.

I also volunteer as a Girl Scout troop leader, working with Daisy Scouts - ages 5 through 7, and serve on the PTA for the local elementary school.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, knitting, gaming, writing, reading and watching Food Network cooking competition shows, with my favorite being Chopped. I also love watching Grey's Anatomy and Criminal Minds, and for some reason I don't quite understand, Shark Tank. I like to travel and would love to return to Italy.
