Melissa D. Dodd (Ph.D., University of Miami) is Assistant Professor of Advertising-Public Relations at the University of Central Florida. She is the (co)author of multiple refereed journal publications and has presented award-winning papers at top-tier academic conferences. Her research interests include social capital theory, social media, corporate social responsibility, individual/interpersonal variables, reputation, and measurement as they relate to public relations.

Dodd's multiple grant-funded research has earned her the title of Arthur W. Page Society Legacy Scholar 2012-2013, 2013-2014. She serves as an Advisory Board Member for the International Public Relations Research Conference and Social Media Co-Chair for the Association of Education in Journalism and Mass Communication's Public Relations Division. Dodd has held consulting positions with the Corporate Communication Department of Bacardi U.S.A. and the University of Miami's Emergency Management Department.
