Melissa Duchin

I am a young professional who is fascinated by the reach of social networking. In my current position at Temple Emanu-El, I work with young adults and outreach to create vibrant, organic communities within the congregation. I also manage ongoing learning opportunities.

Previously, I was a market research analyst at Parks Associates, writing and researching about home energy management and home controls. I learned invaluable presentation and social media skills as well.

Before Parks, I worked for a start-up company, Retreat Central, marketing, researching, a little bit of everything. And before that, I studied math and psychology at Washington University in St. Louis, graduating with college honors.

In addition to my liberal arts education, I also cultivated my improvisation skills through Suspicious of Whistlers and workshops from great professionals (Rick Andrews, Jake Schneider, Greg Hess, and Jill Bernard). Long form improvisation has taught me to stay in the present, commit, and be flexible. That's why I like to say I'm improvising my way through life.

I've programmed in LISP, performed on stage, and advised youth. I'm thankful for my jobs; I see them as stepping stones in my career path. If/when I listen to the advice to follow my passion, you can find me in the arts & education field.

Interests include logic, psychology, and making this earth a better place to live. My favorite three-digit number is 598. And that is all you need to know about me.
