Melissa Smith
Melissa Smith is an active Young Democrat and native Marylander.
Melissa began her professional career as a fundraising consultant with Rice Consulting. She has also worked for Congressman Frank M. Kratovil, Jr. (MD-01) and the Maryland Democratic Party. In 2008 Melissa traveled to Denver to staff the Maryland delegation to the Democratic National Convention. In 2010 she managed the successful campaign of Delegate Luke Clippinger (D-46).
Currently, Melissa is the Legislative Aide at Alexander & Cleaver, one of the top government relations firms in Annapolis.
A proud UMBC graduate, Melissa serves as Co-Chair of the Steering Committee of the UMBC Chapter of Young Alumni. She is also a board member of NARAL Pro-Choice Maryland.
Melissa has been active with the Young Democrats of Maryland (YDM) since 2007. She attended both the 2009 Young Democrats of America (YDA) Bi-Annual Convention in Chicago, and the 2011 YDA Convention in Louisville. She previously served one term as Chair of the YDM Women's Caucus before being elected to serve as Treasurer of the statewide organization in January 2011.
She resides in a historic Baltimore City rowhome with her fiance Trey Evans and their two cats, Kiwi and Max. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with friends and family.
