A dog-lover and a Green Bay Packers fan, Milwaukee-based neurosurgeon Dr. Melissa Macias has attained what is, in many ways, a picture of the American dream. After graduating with a bachelor’s degree in biology and chemistry at the University of Texas, Dr. Macias began her postgraduate work at the Medical College of Wisconsin (MCW), eventually earning a PhD in cellular biology and neuroanatomy in 1996. Dr. Melissa Macias then began medical school at MCW, gaining her neurological surgery residency there after graduating.

Her work as both a clinical researcher and a neurosurgeon has kept her on the cutting edge of available medical technologies, as she seeks to serve her patients with the most minimally invasive techniques possible. On occasion, Dr. Macias also gives lectures by invitation at conferences, research symposiums, and universities around the United States.

Dr. Melissa Macias is a member of both the Texas Medical Association and the Wisconsin Medical Society, with multiple research publications over the years regarding her work in spinal cord injury and treatment techniques.

Outside of her professional interests, Dr. Macias enjoys evenings at the Milwaukee Symphony, immersing herself in different cultures, and painting.
