Melissa Mars
Melissa Mars, international actress and singer-songwriter, is well known in France for her pop singing career and for her leading role in the successful musical Mozart the Rock Opera. Melissa received major notice in the U.S.A due to her appearance alongside John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers in From Paris With Love, and was featured in its trailer, which was shown nation-wide during the Super Bowl. Soon after that, she was cast in five American feature films in less than one year and she co-starred alongside well-known actors such as Tom Sizemore (Saving Private Ryan), Vivica A. Fox (Kill Bill) David Proval (Mean Streets, The Sopranos) and Vinnie Jones (Snatch, X-Men).
At the young age of 13, Melissa began her acting career on the stage, performing works in English, as well as, her native French. These works included plays by Tennessee Williams and Edward Albee. She soon made her debut in films, with her first appearance in the Laurent Heynemann French feature movie, One Way Ticket. In 2003, she next began her career as a singer and songwriter, releasing three albums with Universal Music, duets and featuring’s, “1980", reaching number 5 in the charts.
In 2009 Melissa combined her musical and acting talents, performing the leading role in the hit rock musical, Mozart the Rock Opera, directed by Olivier Dahan, of the Oscar winning film Ma Vie en Rose. She played the part of Aloysia, an opera diva, Mozart’s first love and muse, which required Melissa learning to sing in the opera style. After 346 performances before more than 1,500,000 people, for which they received 3 NRJ music awards (Best ensemble cast), the performance was filmed in 3D by Mark Weingartner, special effects director of The Matrix and Inception, which was released into movie theaters throughout France and South Korea. In 2013, Melissa reprised her role and was on tour in Ukraine and Russia with a new live concert version, which was accompanied by a philharmonic orchestra.
As Melissa continues with her two successful careers of actress and singer-songwriter, she combines them with her love and flare for fashion. She appears regularly in editorials of many international magazines in France, Japan, Russia, Ukraine, Mexico, U.S.A..
