Melissa Smith Catholic University

Awaiting her Ph.D. in January 2014 after completing her dissertation in November, Melissa N. Smith recently joined the practice of Dr. Kimberly M. Brooks, PhD & Associates, Inc., in Bowie, Maryland. Serving children, teens, adults, and families, her clinical work focuses on a range of therapeutic services and psychological assessments. Melissa N. Smith's specialty interests include treatment interventions for foster youth, treatments for traumatized youth, and research on minority and cultural issues in the field of psychology. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Psychological Association and the American Psychological Association. At Catholic University of America, Melissa Smith also serves as a member of the diversity committee.

She holds bachelor’s degrees in sociology and music from the University of Puget Sound and a master of arts in psychology from American University. In her local community, she actively supports youth organizations, including the Maryland Foster Youth Resource Center and Foster Care Alumni of America. Her personal interests include gardening, traveling, and attending the theater.
