Melissa Williams is a interdisplinary artist, who is currently studying to gain her Masters Degree in Performance Practices. Melissa has a strong passion in dance, drama and singing. Her main aim is to become a choreographer creating exciting, fresh, thrilling and chilling pieces of work. She also aims to perform as an artist with other dance and theatre companies. She has made two main choreography pieces at the University of Bedfordshire, which is also where she is studying Performing Arts.
She began performing in College 2009 where she studied BTEC National Diploma in Performing Arts, it is also where she came to the realisation that performing is her passion. In 2011 she began her BA Honors Degree in Performing Arts at the University of Bedfordshire.
She has been professionally trained in Ballet, Contemporary, Cunningham Technique, Capeoria, Contact Improvisation, Street and HipHop. She also had a very brief moment of training in Tap Dancing.
Over time Melissa has worked and performed with three Dance Companies and one Dance and Theare Company. In 2012 she worked with Fluer Darkin Dance Company where she performed DisGo at the MAC Theatre in Birmingham. In 2013 she worked with Darla Johnson and Nicole Wesley on The Justice Project of which was performed at the University of Bedfordshire. In 2013 she worked with Artistic Director Dawn Davis in Thrive Productions on A Dramatic Turn of Events which was performed at the Blue Orange Theater in Birmingham. Finally in 2014 she performed in Happinity choreographed by Rhiannon Faith, which was performed at the University of Bedfordshire and Rich Mix Theater in London.
Although she loves to choreograph, she also loves to perform. She has proudly taken part in other choreography pieces. In her second year she taken part in seven choreographic pieces which lead her to take part in ten choreographic pieces in her third year.
Melissa is now proudly part of a new Dance and Theater company known as WINGLESS Dance Theater, which is artisically led by Magnum Phoenix. #WALLPAPER was the first work they successfully created and performed in June 2014 at The Place Theatre in Bedford.
She has also now formed her own company along side Edy Samuels, together they formed MelEdy Dance Theater company. They have also been successfully selected at RAWartists, where they will be showcasing their work.
