Dear Athlete Mom,
I am so happy you have found me because I have something I need to tell you.
YOU are a goddess. You need to hear it and know it.
The Athlete:
You have pushed yourself past limits that you cannot explain. You have asked unimaginable things from your mind and body. You have developed an extraordinary level of self-discipline, laser-focus, and control, in order to master your talent. You have sacrificed thousands of hours in preparation for your larger than life goals. You are not afraid to fall down and get back up, even when it's hard; it's always hard. You are proud. You get the job done. You win. You are an athlete. You are a goddess.
The Athlete Mom:
First, read the above description again and let it sink in. Feel how you feel about it.
This is who you are at your core and this is why, if we are similar, on any given day you feel like a version of failure, no matter how many pep talks you give yourself.
you land somewhere along the spectrum below successful. Somewhere between "hot mess" to "almost nailed it" (which in our world is still feel likes failure); Let me explain:
-Are you able to give full commitment to being a Mom and an Athlete at the same time? No
- Is it easy to make the same kind of sacrifices you used to? No
-Are you able to rest, recharge and take care of yourself the way you used to? No
-Do you ever feel guilty about the time you choose to spend away from your kids to pursue your athletic career? Yes
-Does your body look and feel the same as before? No
-Does your mind work the same as before? No
You are living life in the in-between place now. You are juggling your actions and your emotions, your reality, and your dreams. You are compromising in both areas all the time, andin our world that equals failure.
