Melodie Schaefer

Throughout her career, Melodie Schaefer has earned a variety of honors and recognitions, beginning with a Gradate Scholarship Award from George Williams College in 1982. She also received two scholarship awards from the Federal Woman's Program and six Outstanding Performance Awards from Edward Hines Jr. VA, as well as an Outstanding Performance Award from the Department of Veterans Affairs OPC in Los Angeles. In 1994, Melodie Schaefer garnered a letter of appreciation from the same organization, a Certificate of Excellence from West Los Angeles VAMC, and a Federal Performance Review Award. More recently, she was given a CSAT Travel Award from the Center for Substance Abuse Treatment and a Distinguished Service Award in Education and Training from the California Psychological Association.

In order to contribute to the field of psychology, Melodie Schaefer has served on a number of boards and volunteered with a variety of organizations. She currently sits on the California Psychiatric Association Board of Continuing Education Government Affairs Committee. Previously, she served on the organization's Conference Planning Committee for three years and contributed to the group's leadership conference. Other entities she has supported with her time and energy include the Aegis Medical Systems Advisory Board, Argosy University Advisory Board, Mission College Substance Abuse Training Program Development Committee, and Greater Lawn Mental Health Center Advisory Board. Moreover, Melodie Schaefer acted as a Board Member, Vice-Chair, and Chair of the California Psychology Internship Council, as well as Chair of the SoCal Internship Fair Subcommittee and Funding Subcommittee.

Today, Melodie Schaefer operates as the Regional Director of Professional Services Centers, PhD Program Training Advisor/Liaison, and Executive Director of the Addictions Institute. In these roles, she helps to design and implement a wide variety of projects that provide guidance to students, individuals with substance-abuse concerns, and businesspeople.
