Lawrence Meltzer

Lawrence Michael Meltzer is a dedicated South Florida criminal defense attorney with experience on both sides of the law. Meltzer worked as a prosecutor early in his career, and now he is an attorney defending the rights of those facing criminal charges.
Meltzer graduated from American University in Washington, D.C., in 1994 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. After working in the private sector for two years, Meltzer began studying at Nova Southeastern University's Sheppard Broad Law Center. He earned his juris doctor in May 1999.
Meltzer became an Assistant State Attorney with the Broward County State Attorney's Office in 2001. He prosecuted significant traffic offenses including DUI and driving with a suspended license. He also prosecuted misdemeanors, such as reckless driving, battery, assault and theft.
In 2005, Meltzer left the prosecution side of criminal law and was hired as a lead trial counsel for a law firm, the Broward County Office of The Ticket Clinic. There he defended thousands of clients on misdemeanor and felony DUI charges and represented clients on criminal traffic offenses and violations.
As an attorney at Meltzer & Bell, P.A., Meltzer uses his experience and extensive knowledge of Broward County courts to represent clients accused of criminal charges throughout Broward and Palm Beach counties. He represents clients accused of DUI, drug crimes, marijuana offenses and other crimes. He is passionate about helping clients, and he is dedicated to getting the best possible outcome in each case.
Meltzer has been recognized for his work on several occasions, including being named as one of the Top 100 Trial Lawyers in 2014 and one of the Top 100 DUI Lawyers in 2013. He also has been featured on several different media outlets, including CNN, MSNBC, Fox News, NBC Today Show and Seaview Radio.
