Welcome to the colorful world of a soul girl. Born and raised in Atlanta, I am the culmination of everything wrong and right with the world. The middle daughter of immigrant parents, I always dreamed of being in the entertainment industry. It was while in high school I got the courage to write humorous anecdotes about the daily mundane life of teenage adolescence. After graduating, writing became more than a way of expression, it became love. I pursued a major in Journalism with a minor in African-American Studies at Georgia State University. While there I landed an internship with Purple Ribbon Records, an Atlanta-based music label headed by Big Boi of hip-hop act Outkast. I am a contributing writer for Ask Miss A Atlanta, and The Harlem Times in New York, and in fact a pop cult dictionary, a beautiful revolutionary, the hip-hop historian of the A! So, What is Being Mena J? A guide for cool stuff. Like what? Fashion, music, current events, from relationships to makeup tips…it’s whenever inspiration hits! A place to gab…a courtly confab….come in Enjoy!
