Rebecca was passionate about the culinary arts since she was a child. In 1993, at the 15 age, she met Dr. Keshava Bhat, father of the Natural Health Reeducation Movement “Naturismo Tropical”, who inspired her to continue the path on culinary arts and natural nutrition. In 2004 she graduated from the Natural Gourmet Institute for Health & the Culinary Arts in New York and worked in renowned vegan restaurants the Candle Cafe y Candle 79.

After returning to her homeland, Puerto Rico, she worked hand by hand with two of the most renowned chefs in the island, Roberto Treviño and Willo Benet.

In 2006 she creates Afrodita Catering, a catering company dedicated to provide natural and vegetarian alternatives in the San Juan area. Afrodita Catering offered vegetarian lunch “fiambreras,” cooking classes, company catering, personal chef services and menu planning.

In 2009, she created the Adivinas, a sublime wheat, gluten, and egg free artisanal cookies that have quickly become the favorite among those with the most demanding palates. Currently she offers vegetarian cooking classes in Freshmart, the largest health food store chain in Puerto Rico.

Some of her distinguished customers are Naturismo Tropical, Natural Awakenings Magazine, Samadhi Yoga & Ayurveda Institute, Sierra Bender, Peace n’ Loaf, La Chiwinha, Dr. Herger & Qi Wellness Center, Hacienda San Pedro, Laura Om & Pal Cielo, Quiroprácticos Díaz Velázquez, Verde Mesa, Med Wellness Clinic, Restaurante En Gratitud, BanCoop and Trust Mortgage.

Following the Hipocrates quote: “Let the food be your medicine, and your medicine be your food” her mission is to educate people and create awareness in the importance of using whole, fresh, local, organic, seasonal harvest and high quality ingredients to nourish their bodies while creating balanced in their lives.
