**Early Life and Background**

Ihechimerem Best Orji Nwankwo, known by his stage name Mentydollah, was born on November 25, 2000, in Arochukwu, a historically rich and culturally vibrant town in Abia State, Nigeria. The fifth child of Justina Nwankwo and Johnson Nwankwo Udo, Mentydollah grew up in a family deeply rooted in the traditions and values of the Igbo community. Raised in a Christian home as the fifth of six children, his upbringing was steeped in faith, love, and a strong sense of community. His parents, both ardent lovers of music, played a pivotal role in nurturing his early interest in the arts.

From a young age, Mentydollah showed a profound connection to music. The sounds of traditional Igbo music, gospel hymns, and contemporary Nigerian hits filled his home, providing a diverse sonic landscape that would shape his musical inclinations. His mother, Justina, often sang folk songs and spirituals, while his father, Johnson, shared stories of their ancestors, enriching Mentydollah’s cultural understanding and appreciation for storytelling through music.

**Musical Journey and Development**

Mentydollah’s formal journey into music began at an early age. When he was just eight years old, he joined the Scripture Union choir in his school, where his natural talent for singing began to shine. Alongside two close friends, he would often engage in street rap and chorus battles, further honing his skills and building his confidence. These early experiences were crucial in shaping his musical identity, even though he had not yet started recording his music in a studio.

At the age of sixteen, Mentydollah began to take his music more seriously and started recording his songs. However, the path was not easy. Without significant support, he faced numerous challenges in pursuing his passion. Determined to succeed, he took up a job to support himself, his family, and his burgeoning music career. This period of hard work and perseverance taught him valuable lessons in resilience and self-reliance, further fueling his drive to succeed.
