Menzi Msane

Student in Johannesburg

Hey there, I’m Menzi Msane, living in Johannesburg. I am a third-year Bachelor of Education (BEd) student at the University of Johannesburg, majoring in Life Sciences and Geography. As a pre-service teacher, I am committed to developing meaningful, learner-centred educational experiences that prepare learners for success in the 21st century. My teaching philosophy is centered on promoting 21st cent skills and problem-solving while creating an inclusive classroom where every learner has the opportunity to thrive.

My academic training has equipped me with a strong foundation in Life Sciences, Geography, and Natural Sciences education, as well as the ability to design CAPS-aligned lessons that encourage inquiry, scientific literacy, and active learning. Through my teaching practice, I have gained valuable experience in lesson planning, classroom management, learner assessment, and adapting instruction to meet the diverse needs of learners.

In addition to my formal studies, I am currently undergoing Virtual Reality (VR) training offered by CALTSTEAM team at the University of Johannesburg, where I am developing innovative approaches to integrating immersive technologies into science education. This experience has strengthened my understanding of how emerging technologies can enhance learner engagement, improve conceptual understanding, and support the development of digital literacy and other essential 21st-century skills.
