Strengths Quest: The strength that I identified the most with was,Positivity. I chose this strength because I am always looking for the positive in every situation and I can laugh about the setback later. For academics, if I don't do as well as I had hoped on an exam, I can always learn from it and work harder for the next test. For my personal and social life, if life doesn't go my way, I can always remember everything happens for a reason and that something good will always come of it.
First Year Success Series: One of the success series I attended this semester was able to help me throughout my first year as a freshman. The session was titled mindfulness. We were given the opportunity to discuss stress and deal with mechanisms that would help us relax and calm down our bodies and mind. I found this to be extremely helpful because now I have the tools to relax myself when I am stressed from my studies.
My Ohio State Tradition: For this assignment, we had to describe our favorite tradition at OSU. I chose the sound of the bells ringing from Orton Hall. I could be walking across the oval, leaving a football game, or even studying quietly and the bells reminds me that I am a buckeye and that going to Ohio State is real. It gives me the chills every time they ring, because they have been ringing for over one hundred years so, students from the past and students from the future will always connect with this great tradition. We then had to discuss the history of the tradition that has been around for over 100 years. This tradition is very important to me because it is a tradition you areapart of daily and a tradition that will always be there forever. When I amhaving a stressful day, as soon as I hear the bells, it gives me the courage tokeep fighting through the day knowing that students have graduated every yearfor over a century. I can always count on the bells to ring every fifteenminutes and keep me on track with not only time, but in life.
