Hello!

My name is Mercedes, and no, I am NOT named after the car.

I'm much like your normal teenage girl. I worry about my appearance and friends. I like movies, music, and the Internet. I want to have good grades. I daydream about boys.

How I'm different: I like anime, manga, and RPG video games. I listen to more alternative and foreign music.

And, oh yeah, I'm a cosplayer.

Cosplay (コスプレ kosupure?), short for "costume play", is an activity in which participants wear costumes and accessories to represent a specific character or idea from a work of fiction.

I started cosplaying in November 2012, and it has taken me to places I couldn't even imagine. It helped with my confidence and depression. It gave me goals to work toward. In short, cosplay was there when it seemed nobody was.

Its hard to think that for most of my life, I didn't even know what this was. Now, I live it as much as I can. I've come a long way since I started cosplaying. I've gained many friends though it. I've lost some as well. I met my boyfriend through it. Most importantly, I've discovered myself.

This blog is a chronicle of how cosplay has changed my life since I began. I hope you enjoy the stories I'm sharing as much as I do.
