Photographer and Communications Director in New Haven, Connecticut

Mercy Quaye is currently working as Director of Communications for New Haven Public Schools, and will soon transition to her new role as Connecticut Director of External Affairs for Educators for Excellence.

Prior to joining the school district of which she is a aluma, she entered the education communications world while working as a Communications Associate for the Connecticut Coalition for Achievement Now, a New Haven base education advocacy non-profit fighting for equitable education for all Connecticut Kids. Before joining ConnCAN, Mercy worked with Digital First Media first as a beat reporter with the Register Citizen in Torrington and then as a breaking news reporter with the New Haven Register. During her time with Digital First, Mercy covered a range of topics including politics, crime, human rights finance and education. Prior to becoming a reporter, Mercy was employed with Workforce Alliance in New Haven where she managed social media marketing.

In 2014, Mercy started The Narrative Project, a human advocacy organization that seeks to correct the narratives of marginalized groups though expanding cultural understanding, creating inclusive communities, engaging with impacted groups and effecting policy to create a more equitable and inclusive society.
