Meredith Smith's passion is collaborating with diverse communities and organizations in the design, implementation and evaluation of quality education programs. She is guided by a commitment to create a world where all of life can flourish.
That work has taken various forms and allowed her to participate in many exciting projects. These include: developing the conceptual design of a Mercy Corps sponsored health and family planning service to reach the remote areas of southern Tajikistan; leading the design, implementation and management of an integrated virtual/physical curricula for a nascent online English language program for adult immigrant and refugee learners in Seattle, WA; conducting observations and assessments with kids in various Head Start Programs; and deploying a statistically significant health survey for Doctors of the World USA's disaster relief work across the Rockaway Peninsula of NYC.
Now is year two working for the Advanced Consortium at Columbia University's Earth Institute focused on conflict resolution and also as a freelance research editor.
She holds a BA summa cum laude from University of Colorado (Literature Studies) and a MPA in Development Practice from Columbia University (School of International and Public Affairs). She was a Earth Institute Research Fellow at the King Hussein Foundation in Amman, Jordan in 2013 and is a member of Teachers' College Critical Peace Education Network.
