CONDOMS. GLITTER. WELDING. EMBROIDERY. i use these materials to address sex, sexuality and gender in my art. i'm in my thesis year of the MFA program at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY, with a focus in new forms, sculpture and installation. i thrive on making people look at conventional objects in a new light, and i'm not afraid to make confrontational work to start a dialog and challenge conventional norms. my heros are Tracy Emin, Temple Grandin, J.D. Salinger, Fievel Mousekewitz and Dan Savage. my daily soundtrack is a constant range between Ani DiFranco to Duke Ellinton, Ingrid Michaelson to Broadway showtunes. i'm always looking to trade books, films, music and ideas about gender-bending and the ongoing process of connectivity.
i love escaping the city and am always looking for new adventures, new places and new ideas. whether it's hiking the bush of Australia (and having an encounter with a freshie croc), canoeing in the recesses of Canada to see the Northern Lights (and having an encounter with hypothermia) or traveling throughout SouthEast Asia (and having an encounter with political upheavals), i wake up every morning with the desire to push myself out of my comfort zone and challenge the accepted wisdom.
feel free to contact me! i'd love to hear from you.
