Merel Florence

Hi! My name is Merel, and my middle name is Florence. I got these November 19, 1995. However, no one knows that Florence is officially written in my passport. So almost everyday I get the question: ‘Florence? Are you from Florence?’ No, not at all. In fact, I’ve only been there once.

So, no Florence. Then what is? Well, a part of my roots come from Indonesia. But aside from some wacky habits, living with sapulidihs and goelings and some Bahasa popping up in my vocabulary, I was born and raised in the Netherlands.

I was so lucky being the only child at home. I’ve been traveling a lot with my parents . I’ve already seen so much of the world. Just like my favorite stuffed animal, Stamper, who was always with me while traveling and marching through the jungles.
I can say I know how to travel. And this all: before my 18th birthday.

But even now, after my 18th birthday, I’m not finished with discovering with what and with whom I live on this earth. I would love to share this with the whole world.
