Merri Macartney
Like you, Inspirational Humorist and Professional Smarty Pants, Merri Macartney, has reaped huge benefits from the gift of laughter.
Who hasn’t long remembered some invaluable life lesson learned because of humor? Do you still remember a speaker who shared their most embarrassing moment and you vowed never to do the same? Did you laugh until you cried? But more importantly did you seize the take-aways to apply to your life?
With more than 25 years of sharing hard learned lessons, both personally and professionally, through speaking, coaching and publishing books, Merri offers a totally unique motivational experience.
Dubbed the “Channel Changer” as her listeners have taken up the challenge to embrace change rather than have it run them over, Merri says, “If you don’t like the movie that is your life, pick up the remote and change the channel. Choices are part of every moment of every day. Making the right choice changes everything”.
Through the dynamic duo of humorous real life stories and entertaining visual aids, she captures the hearts and minds of her audiences.
Merri has served as a catalyst for motivating multiple direct sales representatives and continues to encourage their leaders with her published books, booklets and CDs. Her humorous ‘slice of life’ book, Thoughts from the Tub – deemed somewhat Erma Bombeckish – is often sold out at events.
Her successes include: The Pampered Chef, Canada, Mary Kay, Sun Media Corp., Registered Insurance Brokers of Ontario (RIBO), University of Guelph Training and Development, Child Development Resource Connection Peel (CDRCP) and numerous provincial and municipal government departments to name a few.
Prior to stepping onto stages for hire, Merri stepped into the world of teaching high school 20 years after dropping out. With no marketable skills, Merri needed to change her channel; she did. For 3 years prior to entering university and the teaching profession, Merri was the acting cost accountant for a start up Mazda dealership.
Volunteering is a passion as she serves as a Board Director and Treasurer for a Registered Charity Corporation. She also serves her community as she hosts a one hour weekly talk show, Boomers3 on Rogers TV where she interviews other experts in areas of interest to that demographic.
