Merrick (Rick) Walton

Mediator in Houston, Texas

Call 713-882-0949

Also lawyer, amateur chef, photographer, genealogist, ordained minister, and historic preservationist. Native Texan, but have lived on all three U.S. coasts. I am available to act as mediator or negotiator in a wide variety of civil litigation, and I enjoy getting out of the city (Houston) and working with lawyers and parties in small towns and out-of-the-way places where other mediators are scarce. Big cases are challenging, but every case is important to the parties no matter what the amount in controversy. Before embarking on my legal career, I had a variety of interesting occupations such as carnival ride operator, market researcher, restaurant manager, and intelligence analyst. I am licensed to practice law only in Texas and some federal courts, but I have a network of relationships with other firms and lawyers in many states (especially New Mexico, Oklahoma, and Louisiana). I am not board-certified in any legal field but generally limit my practice to consultation on class action, mass disaster, and other complex multi-party litigation.
