Susan
Disabled, former Closed Captionist, and former Sign Language Interpreter in the United States
Married, 56, disabled by Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome—Hypermobility Type (hEDS), cranial settling, degenerative disk disease, arthritis, chronic pain, fatigue, insomnia due to a circadian rhythm disorder, iatrogenic benzodiazepine dependence, ADHD, anxiety, panic disorder, depression & C-PTSD from narcissistic abuse.
Progressive/socialist Democrat Christian who supports religious freedom, EDS & benzo awareness, mental-health reform, disability rights, Native/Indigenous rights, Black Lives Matter, LGBTQ rights, the environment, animal rights, sensible gun laws: the 2nd Amendment doesn't mean civilians should own (semi-)automatic rifles that enable ANYONE to commit mass murder within minutes; if people MUST play w/them because "they're fun," they should be kept/used only in "well-regulated" shooting ranges.
Before disability stopped me from working, I've been a secretary, sign-language interpreter, & closed captionist at NTID. Fluent in ASL, semi-fluent in Irish Gaelic & German, 4 yrs of straight A's in HS Spanish (but alas have forgotten most from lack of practice) & beginner-level Welsh, Cornish, & French. I love language, linguistics & history.
I love good, imaginative writing; books; TV; movies; & music (rock, folk, Irish). My favorite stories are character-driven, so I admire great character actors who bring them to life. When I can’t find any scripted TV to watch, I like documentaries, political humor/satire & MSNBC.
Before disability got in the way of my hobbies, I loved writing, drawing, watercolor painting, calligraphy, paper arts, quilting, jewelry & stained-glass making, photography, web design, German & Irish dancing, language-learning & travel. Now I escape the limitations of RL via virtual worlds.
