Michael (Duke) Fierro

Hey everyone! My name is Michael Fierro, but ever since I was born I've been known as Duke. I'm a fast-paced, quick-learning junior double majoring in Managment and Communication at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. I have a passion for numbers and apparel and feel as though my career is destined for buying.

Being from a small mountain town in Western Massachsetts I feel as though I have yet to explore this huge, magnificient world. When thinking about what I want to do for the rest of my life my first thought was that I had to travel. The next thought I had was what really interests me? Being a left-brained rising business professional, I think very analytically and strategically more than anything. I always see myself comparing pricing on clothes thinking "how much did the company actually pay for this material and how much are they making off of each one?"

My love for numbers, apparel, and travel seem to be the perfect combination for a buying job. I know that buying isn't just handed to anyone though. In most compaies they like to see a person work through every aspect of the company, especially in planning and allocation. For the summer of 2014 I am looking for an internship to showcase the skills and passion that I already have and to learn many more skills on the way to becoming a retail buyer. I am looking to intern in the fields of planning, allocation, merchandising, or buying.
