Melissa Hays

Melissa Hays is a feature film Producer and UPM. She calls Portland, Oregon home and has certifications in both Field Production and HD Studio Television Production at Portland Community Television. She was the Producer for ACUPUNCTURE: WHAT’S THE POINT, and the DIrector of Photography for GHOST PHONE, as well as numerous other documentaries and PSA’s.
She holds a Bachelor’s in Interdisciplinary Anthropology and credits her love of ethnology as the reason she is drawn to film. In addition to film-making, Melissa will earn her Masters Degree in Public Health (MPH) in September and hopes to integrate her filmmaking experience with her passion for providing marginalized populations a voice.
Melissa was the Operations Manager for Joseph James Films and GeoCa$h Productions and she has ran her own multimedia and digital technology consulting firm, Digital Ascents, since 1999. Melissa is a Producer on and her latest project, THE FREEMASON was released in select US theatres.
She is also working on a diverse slate of films that will enter principle photography in 2015.
