Michael Hirn
Lima, Ohio
Growing up in the small town of Spencerville, Ohio with one brother Michael was always active in sports. It was this love of playing multiple sports as a young age that helped him decide early that he wanted to be a broadcaster. While not always the best athlete on the field it became clear to others that he had the talent and drive to one day attempt to become as his father Ted always used to say “better than Chris Berman one day”.
At the age of sixteen, Michael caught his first break in his chase as he was taken under the wing of veteran disc jockey and sportscaster Aaron Matthews. While interning with Mr. Matthews on Friday nights at the local radio station in Lima, Ohio then known as 92 Zoo, Michael began to learn some of the ins and outs of the broadcasting business. Taking calls became a regular part of his Friday night gigs, but it wasn’t until he was put on the air with Matthews reading sports scores and interacting in a live environment that Michael realized just exactly how he wanted to make his mark on the world.

After his first taste of radio came to an end, Michael began working part-time and weekends as a board op and occasional dj at a station in Celina, Ohio called WCSM under the guidance of Jim “The Riot” Hyatt and Jonathan Williams. Working in a small town setting like Celina allowed Michael to grow as a personality in and become more comfortable in front of the microphone, a skill that would prove to be valuable down the road in more ways than one.
While attending Hocking College located in Nelsonville, Ohio, Michael was hired by a country station WLGN in nearby Logan, Ohio. Hosting a small time show that dealt mostly with helping people within the community sell their items over the radio once again helped in Michael’s development and growth in dealing with the public.
Following a couple of other radio opportunities, Michael branched out into television when he began working for WOHL-Fox 25 located in Lima, Ohio in 2002 in the Master Control department. Learning how television worked inside the box so to speak and working with talented professionals and broadcasters definitely helped to move along Michael’s development as a future broa
