Mohamed Hossam Elwakil is a Plymouth-based immersive media artist, creative technologist and facilitator working at the intersection of art, technology and community.

He holds an MRes in Immersive Media from the University of Plymouth and a BA in Art Education from Helwan University, with further study in creative coding at VVVV Academy Berlin, digital media at Goldsmiths London, and art management at Lüneburg University Germany.

His practice centres on immersive and participatory experiences and creative technology education. He is currently developing TAWAF — an AI-generative therapeutic immersive experience rooted in Islamic sacred geometry, designed for neurodiverse individuals.

Alongside his creative practice he works as a healthcare assistant and support worker and as a freelance facilitator and workshop leader across arts, culture and education in Plymouth and the South West. He served as Art Invigilator for British Art Show 9 at The Box Plymouth and has presented and spoken at Ars Electronica in Austria, The Node Forum in Germany, Cairotronica Festival and Maker Faire Cairo.

He is the founder of Cairo Media Lab and Creative Coding Cairo, and is passionate about building creative technology communities — currently working toward establishing a creative coding and immersive media hub in Plymouth.
