Musician Micaela Haley, otherwise known as Michelle Culbertson, started life out as a violinist and went on to have a studio of twenty violinists by the time she was 16 and furhtered her studies on the viola and the cello. Michelle received the highest vocal scholarship to DePaul University where she starred in many productions that included Antonia in The Tales of Hoffmann and The Countess in Le Nozze di Figaro. While still a student at DePaul Michelle went on to perform as Eileen in Wonderful Town for Light Opera Works, worked with Chicago Opera Theater, Dupage Opera, Pamiro Opera; etc..As a recording artist Michelle performed on commercials for McDonalds, Nintendo and State Farm. And was then asked by PianoDisc to create a Broadway CD “Michelle Culbertson Sings Broadway Favorites” and a CD of hymns which can also be found on iTunes. After writing a movie trailer with her husband Brian Culbertson, Michelle went on to create a three demo CD that grew out of her idea to distort the bass-line on Carmen’s Habanera. Besides her producing credits as both Micaela and Michelle, she has also co-written songs with Brian and was featured as a vocalist on the song “Some Children See Him” on “A Soulful Christmas.” RCA pop and classical took notice of the three songs demo produced by herself and her husband known as Lord Byron on Micaela’s “Syren” and Michelle found herself in NYC. After Clive Davis merged the Pop division with jive records Michelle was then summoned by Sony Japan who then folded during 2008. Michelle went on the create the remix of Carmen and a video which played in LGBT bars across the world and she has performed in gay pride parades across the United States. While in Paris, Michelle and Brian created a video for La Vie en Rose. Michelle and Brian co-founded the Napa Valley Jazz Getaway not long after their 10th wedding anniversary trip to the region. Michelle then turned her attention to working with Brian and creating the experience for the Getaway. They are currently working on projects together in this genre. An avid traveler Michelle has lived and studied voice in New York City with both Charlie Riecker and Denise Massé of the Metropolitan Opera, in Florence Italy, Berlin and Paris, France. As a language enthusiast Michelle has gone on to learn Italian while in Florence at the Dante Alighieri school under Cinzia Poli and Urbania, Italy at Centro Studi Italiani and French while living in Paris. LA Opera sent Michelle on a full scholarship
