Hi, I’m Michael.

I provide leadership consultancy for inclusivity and scholar-activism in higher education, and across industry in business, sport and healthcare.

Currently I'm a Principal Teaching Fellow at Imperial College London across the Primary Care Curriculum, a Board Trustee member of NDTi, and a PhD researcher (in Postcolonial, Critical Whiteness). I have been recognised by the HEA as a Principal Fellow (PFHEA, 2016), and by Advance HE as a National Teaching Fellow (NTF, 2020). I am also a National Autism Trainer for Health and Justice Settings.

From 2021 to 2024 I served as a Director of The Society of Sports Therapists, and was elected Chairman for 2023/24. Since 2001 I have designed and led high quality, vocational allied healthcare and Sports Therapy education. My pedagogy is critical, embraces technology-enhanced learning, and has an anticolonial approach embedded within a strong employment and enterprise focus.

I have a track record of award-winning, innovative teaching that contributes to student achievement, added value, student satisfaction, graduate employment, and post-graduate study.

Social justice and anti-oppression are central to my inclusive pedagogy. I work with students to share in the opportunity for us to co-develop our knowledge, skills, and critical thinking.

I have previously worked in applied clinical MSK practice in elite sport, nationally and internationally with Team GB/Olympic athletes, and on screen productions for TV and film.

I have written several published papers and book chapters, and I continue consultancy across Higher Education Institutions, media and industry.
