Michael Harrelson

Based in Ridgley, Tennessee, Michael Harrelson develops advanced waste gasification strategies as the owner of Epurga, LLC. Working to commercialize two patents under Mississippi State University ownership, Michael Harrelson coordinates with Tennessee engineering firms and laboratory facilities on bringing the technologies to market. An advantage of Epurga’s approach to generating BTX-chain chemicals is that it can be utilized within an environmental carbon credit system.

With more than 40 years of experience in landfill operations and ownership, Mr. Harrelson also holds executive positions with ECM of Ridgely and Rett Express, which provide integrated waste management solutions. In leading Rett Express, he oversees all aspects of operations and a wide range of staff--from accountants to truck drivers--and has instituted measures to ensure federal agency regulatory compliance.

Mr. Harrelson studied civil engineering at the Georgia Institute of Technology and has pursued advanced studies at Johns Hopkins University. Outside of his work, he is an accomplished songwriter who has published songs with a variety of publishing houses.
