I am so many things: game developer, software engineer, college professor, Java programmer, space enthusiast, gamer, bicyclist, extraterrestrial diplomacy proponent, nature and animal lover, father, sci-fi fan, musician, and other things that receive varying amounts of my time and attention.

I primarily make my living as a Professor of Game and Simulation Programming and Computer Information Systems at DeVry University. I began programming as a hobby when I was about 14 years old. I spent about 12 years doing software development, maintenance, and support for various companies, and I've been teaching computer science, software design, and programming since 2002. Through it all, I've continuously worked on game development projects on the side. I am a Sun Certified Java Programmer, an IEEE Certified Software Development Associate, and hold degrees in computer science, computer game design, and software engineering with a concentration in gaming and entertainment technology. I am currently pursuing a doctoral degree in software engineering.
