I learned from the early days of the AIDS epidemic, when I knew 90 people who died, that life can be snatched away. So I adopted the philosophy of one of my clients, "What I want most is lots of adventures, so when I'm sick and near the end, I have lots of great memories." It is a philosophy of "radical aliveness" I am still striving to achieve without getting too bogged down by life's "to do" lists.
