Skin is both barrier and interface. This is what gets me about derm. I have been dedicated to what matters most in my profession for years: the individual outcome for a single human being. Starting off from a field worker position in epidemiologic science during med school I soon took over the lead in a pan-european trial on allergy prevention in early childhood. Equipped with a soft spot for research, I pursued my clinical career with enthusiasm and my commitment yielded board certificates both in family medicine and dermatology and venerology. I was the first Austrian in my field to be appointed to a research scholar position at Weill Cornell Med School, NYC, to go for investigation on the role of immunology in inflammation and cancer. Committed to translating research results into beneficial products for patients I then joined Amgen, a highly innovative biotech venture. In 2012 I founded lakeside dermatology in Alpine Austria, a private practice caring for patient's needs and offering medical advice services to pharmaceutical companies. Immunology is interaction between ligand and receptor and drives what is going on in our skin. This is how we understand communication with patients and customers at lakeside dermatology.
