Michael Stainkamp

I grew up on Long Island, attending St. Dominc High School in Oyster Bay. At St. Dominc, I was involved in many different extracurricular activities including preforming arts, roller hockey and baseball. Upon graduating in 2007, I attended St. John’s University from 2007-10, earning my Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism, graduating one semester early. While at St. John’s, I was a member of the Campus Ministry Church Choir. I am currently pursuing my Master Degree at Hofstra University. I am the Co-Managing Editor of Long Island Report, a student run publication at Hofstra with the intention of widening my knowledge of the journalism industry. Most recently, I spent time as a Social Media Coordinator at MLB.com the official website of Major League Baseball.

I have interned at News 12 Long Island as a Sports Producer, NHL.comas a Staff Writer and Digital Producer and also at MLB.com as an Editorial Producer and Social Editorial Producer. In addition to my internship experience, I was the Director of Digital Media for Baseball Player Magazine a quarterly Long Island baseball publication. I also contribute to the sports website, Bleacher Report and I stay around the baseball world as an Assistant Coach for the Freshman team at St. Dominic.
