Michael Auger

I am currently a junior majoring in communication at the University of Illinois. I am seeking a specialized degree in organizational communication, and plan to pursue higher level education upon graduation. I plan to achieve a J.D/M.B.A degree.

I am also a National Master chess player. Through this pursuit I have developed analytical reasoning, patience, and a strong work ethic. I also work as a chess instructor in various different settings. I give private lessons to numerous students, and have instructed in many schools and chess camps. As an instructor I have gained great interpersonal and organizational skills.

Apart from that I am president of the Illini Chess Club. As president I have had the opportunity to lead our chess team to two consecutive appearances at the Final Four of College Chess. Being president has given me the opportunity to practice leadership, and develop organizational, communication and time-management skills. I've learned how to host and manage events, and during my term as president our club has fundraised over $8,000.
