Michael Floyd

Michael A. Floyd is a archival technician and knowledge management professional who works as a consultant researcher in the New York/tri state area. Michael has attended Ramapo College, and Rutgers University where he received a B.A. in Psychology. Michael earned his Master of Science in Library and Information Science (M.S.L.I.S.) from Long Island University’s Palmer School and holds certificates in (LIU) archival preservation, records management, (Drexel University) risk management, digital curation, and metadata management. Over the years Michael has lectured on media ethics, digital rights management, digital literacy and advancing technology at various colleges and institutions. In 2012 after supporting the efforts of the Red Cross during Hurricane Sandy, Michael helped to establish “FYI Archival Solutions”. FYI Solutions encouraged and supported victims of the super storm to preserve, digitize and make record of personal and familial history, keepsakes & heirlooms. In addition to working as a project archivist for the American Museum of Natural History, City University of New York and New York Public Library , Michael spends his time supporting conservancy based reading rooms to promote both literacy and community.
