I'm Mike, the first professor of practice in journalism at the University of New Mexico. I teach multimedia reporting and media entrepreneurship. As the owner of MVM Consulting, I help local public media organizations and individuals grow their public service journalism. My recent work includes serving as the 2012-2013 Reynolds Chair in Ethics of Entrepreneurial and Innovative Journalism at the University of Nevada. And a 2010-2011 Knight Fellowship at Stanford. The bulk of my career was as news director of local NPR stations in San Diego and Seattle, 1987-2007. BA and MA from UGA. Happily married, father of three great guys!
